Vancouver Weather-Buying A Home in the Rain, Sun, and other weather conditions

Vancouver Weather Vancouver weather is a factor When buying a home, it can be easy to overlook year-around weather issues. You may think you are purchasing a home in a sunny area, but come to find there is always a heavy cloud cover. This is just one of a number of weather issues to consider when selecting your dream home. Just because a general geographic area has a lot of sun doesn’t mean your home will. Things to look for include fog and heavy cloud cover for a home in a valley. If the home is located on the side of a hill or valley, make sure you know when it will get sun and shade. Vancouver weather temperatures can be radically […]

3 Ways Renters Lose Money in Vancouver

Are you still renting a home or condo for yourself or your family in the Greater Vancouver Area? If so, you’re losing money. Think about these three ways you lose money by renting: 1. Renters don’t get to freeze their monthly housing expenses like home buyers can. Of course, many home buyers get mortgage payments with adjustable interest rates and their payments go up over time. However, these payments will not go up over the long term like rising rents. Just think about how much an apartment costs today compared to ten years ago. A two bedroom apartment in Vancouver’ is $2300 today and even pricier depending on location. The exact same condo rented for $1200 in 1998, when it was brand new. Home Mortgage Lending | Real Estate News

Real Estate News -The Government is announcing home mortgage lending has four measures for new government-backed insured mortgages with loan-to-value ratios of more than 80 per cent: Reduce the maximum amortization period to 25 years from 30 years. This will reduce the total interest payments Canadian families make on their mortgages, helping them build up equity in their homes more quickly and pay off their mortgages sooner. The maximum amortization period was set at 35 years in 2008 and further reduced to 30 years in 2011. Lower the maximum amount Canadians can borrow when refinancing to 80 per cent from 85 per cent of the value of their homes. This will promote saving through home ownership and encourage homeowners to prudently manage borrowings against their homes. Fix the maximum gross debt service ratio at 39 per cent and the maximum total debt service ratio at 44 per cent. This will […]
