902 Davie is located in the heart of downtown Vancouver at the corner of Davie and Hornby. The developer is listing the units at 902 Davie as “nano lofts” and they will range in size from 175-275 sq.ft. While prices have not been released yet, similar suites in Toronto started at $249,000. The builders have planned a variety of amenities for residents. These will include outdoor garden spaced out amongst the floors, an electronic library and study hall. Interior designs have not been released yet.
Reliance Properties has the reputation of being one of Vancouver’s most innovative and progressive developers. They were leaders in the micro loft movement with the Burns Block. They are responsible for numerous work/live spaces popular with artists around the city. If approved, 902 Davie will be Reliance’s third micro loft project and second in Vancouver.
The building of 902 Davie is comprised of stratified elements which allow for the design of the micro lofts. The tower is placed on a podium of lower, middle and a truncated top block. Each level of the building includes a corner void which adds dimension and interest to the structure by disrupting the mass of the exterior. The architecture utilizes positive and negative spaces presenting contrast. Red surfaces emphasize the modern design and sculptural shapes.
