In mid December we enjoyed a ski vacation with friends in Whister. One of the restaurants recommended by my wife from a previous visit was Element. This small eatery is kind of tucked away below the Alpen Glow Hotel. Another couple accompanied us to help discover this tapas bar.
To start we shared several dishes including; housing pork lettuce cups-julienne vegetables, seasoned rice noodles, soy roasted cahsews, bean sprouts, dipping sauce 13, freshly served bocconcini capareses, basil pesto, balsamic reduction 13, and the tables favorite of the starters was the panko crusted goat cheese, three ways beet salad, beet relish, candied pecan 9. We decieded as a group to share the mains as well so that we can all experience the wonderful flavors. We had the porcini gnocchi, wild mushrooms, truffle butter sauce, shave parmesan 14, slow cooked pork belly, bacon & rosemary bread pudding, apple butter, maple cider glaze 16, that dish was exploding with flavors. To accompany those dishes we added the tow tone frites, a combo of thick cut French fries and yam fries.
The service was very good and the atmosphere was very relaxing, warm and inviting. If you want to get away from the main village, Element urban tapas parlour is just a few steps away, the food is outstanding along with a great wine selection.
The Great One Wayne Grezky known for producing his wines in the sanoma region of Claifornia and the Niagara region of Ontarion is now crafting wine in the Okanagan celebrating the diversity of vineyards in British Columbia.
This 2011 Okanagan Chardnay is currently on sale a the BC liquor Store for $13.99. This light tasting Chardonnay is perfect if you are looking for a refreshing taste. With hints of melon and peach along with notes of lemon and lime you can easily tell that this wine is easy drinking. Perfect to serve for lunch with dishes like chicken salad, turkey wraps and fish cakes.
